Incoming first graders are required to have a complete physical examination.  The reason is for early detection of any illness or physical disability.  You may have this exam done by your family physician or local health clinic.  It will ensure that your child is healthy and any identified problems may be corrected at the earliest time possible.  The exam may be conducted as early as 18 months before admission to first grade.  Therefore, parents of incoming kindergarteners should consider having the physical exam completed at the same time as immunizations are updated for school.
