PPIE Fun Run

The 5th Annual Pleasanton Run for Education will be April 23, 2017! This year's event will include a 15k, 10k, 5k and Kids' Challenge. Registration for the event is now open at ppierun.com. Register by March 20 to receive early bird pricing. All proceeds benefit PPIE. Last year, there were over 3,000 runners that helped raise almost $100,000 for our schools. PPIE is still accepting new sponsors if you know of anyone that would like to be a sponsor for this great event.

Innovative Grant Programs
Thanks to a generous grant from Oracle, PPIE is able to grant funds to students and teachers through the Innovative Grant Program. In January, PPIE awarded nine Innovative Student Grants. Congratulations to our grant recipients! The online application for Innovative Education Grants is now open through March 15. All PUSD educators are eligible to apply for these grants, up to $3,000 to fund an innovative project that is student focused, promotes creativity and innovative thinking, offers expanded opportunities for learning and supports Common Core standards, as well as the PUSD Strategic Plan.

Science Fair 2017

Calling all scientists! The Annual Mohr Science Fair will be held on Tuesday, March 14. All students are welcome to participate. You can work independently or with a partner or two. PTA will continue selling the science boards at the Bingo Night on February 21st, as well as in the office. The cost for each board is $3.50. You can bring cash or write a check to Mohr PTA.

Students can drop off their science project after school on Monday, March 13th (from 3:00 - 3:30 pm). Just go to the MPR, and there will be volunteers to take your project. Otherwise, just bring in your project before school to the MPR on March 14th. If you come to school later, then bring your board at that time. Once the Science Fair is set up, classrooms will be able to tour through the fair.

On the evening of March 14th, the Science Fair will be open for families to come and take a look at what the scientists explored at Mohr. The doors will be open from 5 - 7 pm.

Please view the science booklet that explains the scientific method and some information that will help when working on your project.

Fun Run for STEAM

Mohr School will be holding a Fun Run for STEAM on Wednesday, March 29. A committee of PTA parents is working together to make this a successful fundraising event, and we are on the search for some great sponsors! If you or someone you know owns a business, please consider becoming a sponsor. If you do not own a business, and you would like to be a sponsor, we would be happy to list your name on the back of our new fun t-shirts! In the next few weeks, you will see information from PledgeStar about setting up your child's unique donation page. PledgeStar helped our PTA to collect donations on our last Fun Run, and this company makes it easy and fun for your child to send emails asking for donations. Neighborhood Registration for New Incoming TK/K - 5th Grade students for 2017-2018 School Year

We will have our neighborhood registration on March 9th from 4 - 7 p.m. for all new, incoming TK/K - 5th grade students for the 2017-2018 school year. Please complete the online pre-enrollment process found on the pleasantonusd.net website. Bring a copy of this information along with the following necessary documents to enroll your student at Mohr Elementary: Pre-enrollment information, original birth certificate or passport, immunization records (original and 2 copies), 2 proofs of residency (original and 1 copy), completed Registration Form #50570.

School Smarts PTA Parent Engagement Program reaches across all parent groups to bring them together in support of helping children succeed. The School Smarts Parent Engagement Program is a model for creating meaningful and diverse parent involvement. It brings parents from all backgrounds together in support of their common interest: helping their children and schools succeed.
